The NDIS(National Disability Insurance Scheme) is Australia’s first national Scheme for people with disability. It provides funding directly to individuals.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australia wide system of providing individualised planning, funding and support to people living with disability, their families and carers. It’s a lifetime approach to the delivery of support services, that will change over time with your individual circumstances.
There are around 4.3 million Australians who have a disability. Within the next five years the NDIS will provide an estimated 500,000 Australians who have permanent and significant disability with funding for supports and services. For many people, it will be the first time they receive the disability support they need.
The NDIS implementation is progressively expanding across all states and territories, aiming for comprehensive coverage across the nation.
The NDIS extends support to those with intellectual, physical, sensory, cognitive, and psychosocial disabilities. It also offers early intervention support for eligible individuals and children with developmental delay.
The NDIS provides assurance to all Australians that if they, their child, or a loved one is born with or acquires a substantial and permanent disability, the necessary support will be available.
The NDIS isn't just a handout—it's a game-changer! It's all about empowering individuals to access the necessary support, fostering skill development, and enhancing independence progressively.
